darryl & laura: oregon wedding

It was just another Thanksgiving weekend…or was it? Well, when you have good friends getting married you know it’s going to be a good time, and with Darryl and Laura the day’s weather and enjoyment was stellar. Set in Newberg, we had fun around town and on the campus of George Fox University. Both of these people are amazing and creative in their fields, you can check out Darryl’s HERE and Laura’s HERE. I couldn’t really whittle down any more than this because there was too much creative juice being captured in the details and the expressions—so here you go!

adam sweeney & the jamboree: folk that kind of rocks

First, I want to apologize to you, my faithful readers, for your patience as I’ve been silent lately. Obviously (as the last post indicated) things have been new, life-giving and full. However, there is more to divulge. As of December 20, 2010 I am now the Communications & Resource Coordinator for the Northwest Yearly Meeting of Friends (Quakers).

Now, some of you may be saying, “but what about your photography!?!” Please rest assured, my photography will be continuing. For those of you hoping to book me in the future, please know my services will now be available, but things will be on a case-by-case basis.

That said, I want to continue sharing what I’ve been photographing since September this last year. Starting us off is Adam Sweeney & the Jamboree. I used to gig with Adam back in the day…OK, I guess that was only about 3 or so years ago. He’s now releasing a new album under the above name and it rocks! I did some photos for the album, website and promo. The following is the result from our romp in Portland.

Back in the summer (how is it already November!?!) I hit the beach to shoot some photos for a friend of mine and her family. It was great to see them and take their photos, especially as the first location was a camp we grew up at: Twin Rocks Friends Camp. Despite some colder weather the overcast skies made for that perfect mid day diffusion that can make or break a day shoot, and we had a great time running around, throwing children in the air (see below), and enjoying the amazing Oregon Coast.

We spent a great evening at the beach with our good friends, the Macy family. We got a few formal shots in, but mostly they all just had fun playing together, which makes for fun and really natural pictures. Thanks, Macys, for a great time hanging out! You made it easy to take great pics.

sam & alyssa: oregon wedding

Sam & Alyssa’s wedding was a blast to shoot for several reasons. One, we had a stellar engagement session (see it HERE), two, they are friends, and three, I used to babysit Sam! That’s right, I’m old even if I don’t always look it. The wedding was held at the Abernethy Center’s Abigail Gardens, and we had beautiful weather. Here are several of our favorites from the day, including the single guy jumping off a chair for the garter! Sam & Alyssa, thanks so much for letting us photograph your wedding!

Some of my good friends in Newberg looked me up earlier this summer for some photos around town of their family. I always like shooting for folks I know (though I do like shooting for folks I’m getting to know for the first time, too!), and we had a stellar time around their home and at a local park. They were troopers and decided to even get in the river! So here are several of my favorite shots from the day.
