It was great! We left town on Wednesday after a good cup of Stumptown coffee with our good friends Bryan & Leah and headed for the Oregon Coast. As all the campgrounds were packed out, we ended up at a little lesser known place off the beaten path at Neahkahnie Falls campground. It was really nice, and still within close proximity to short sands, our place of choice for surfing. I don’t think we could have asked for a better day at the coast. We crept out from beneath the valley mist to find blue skies and warm beaches. We enjoyed the hike down to surf, some mexican food in Manzanita, smores over a campfire, morning hiking by the river, and a cup of joe for the road back to the valley. Here’s a few choice pics from the trip:

These shots were a result of EP’s first move when we got to the campsite: get down on your stomach in the dirt and start acting like you’re swimming in it! I think he enjoyed the camping experience more than any of us!

Bryan and Leah had never been to this part of the coast, so we had fun seeing the sights (although we didn’t stop at the Tillamook Cheese Factory!). Below you can see we’re looking out from the lookout points below Neahkahnie Mountain on 101. Espen wanted to have his picture taken specifically with Leah, which was really cool!

This inch worm latched onto EP at the beach and hitched all the way to the lookout where we left it off to enjoy the view.

After dinner in Manzanita we hit the coast really quickly to catch the setting sun. Good times!
