Portrait of a Professor…

Portrait of a Professor…

I had the honor to photograph one of the Princeton Theological Seminary professors, who I’m grateful to say is also a dear friend.  I was first introduced to Dr. Wentzel van Huyssteen through mutual friends, and have since grown to really appreciate how welcoming and sincere he is.  We spent a rainy morning in his cozy office, taking our time, enjoying conversation, and coming away with some great photos.  Although many of the images were head shots intended for publications and other similar uses, I took a few moments for more casual photographs, hoping to portray sense of the environment of his office and work.  I really like the below image, as I feel it not only conveys what I had hoped to achieve, but speaks to who he is as a person: very present with whomever he is with, and a very warm spirit.

Daniel Escher - I like this picture. I had a class with Dr. van Huyssteen, and he has a very caring, gentle attitude. In the picture he looks both stately and grandfatherly, both of which are true to his personality.
