Across the board…

I’ve been involved in many different photographic endeavors recently, ranging (as stated above) across the board.  Here’s a quick preview of a couple things I’ve been seeing through my camera.

I had the great opportunity to work with one of Cherice’s professors, Dr. Charlesworth, for whom I photographed a couple of his ancient pieces.  The below photo is of an early Roman piece of glass with serpentine decorations, found in Jerusalem.  There were other amazing antiquities as well, but this one was particularly beautiful with the glass polished.  I’m extremely grateful to Charlesworth for the opportunity to see and photograph such amazing antiquities.

The other thing I had a lot of fun participating in was our good friends’ daughter’s birthday party…

Bryan Rupp - Joel, thanks for putting up some of the shots you did with the professor, I was excited to see how those came out with the boxes that you bought. Looks great man! A friend and I were just discussing how we needed to get a hold of the dead sea scrolls and just read them ourselves to clear some things up. I think you are really my only chance so if you can just pass those baby’s on my way once you have them that would be awesome! Don’t worry about insuring them in the mail…I’ve never had the postal service lose anything and plus that saves at least a few dollars. Hope all is well friend, so looking forward to you and your family living here again! Great work on the birthday party pictures as well. Did you touch up those blue eyes on that one kid? They are incredible!

Joel - Thanks, Sally! I think a lot of these were actually shot with a 24mm lens, so the portrait length is not always needed, although it can help at times. =)

Sally - I love the expressive baby blues on that sweet baby. Beautiful photos Joel! Your photo makes me want to use my portrait lens for more day to day stuff.
