A favorite place of mine has become the North Cascades. Cherice and I went for an anniversary trip up here the summer we found out she was pregnant. It’s one of those places I’d always heard about but never gotten around to visiting. Well, it’s now on the map. This was the middle of one of our hikes which looks down toward Lake Chelan from where we are at Cascade Pass. We did attempt the Sahale Arm, but found a glacier awaiting us. With Cherice being pregnant, and the fact that we had no actual climbing gear, we decided to enjoy the below view and then descend the pass. This experience made me long to backpack on the north side of the park where it is all back country. I figured if the south end was so beautiful with occasional hikers, the north must be amazing with no roads and just open country as far as you can see…to a certain point, I’m assuming. Although this wasn’t from WAY in my past, the experience was great for having one last trip together as a couple, before EP joined us on this side of the womb.
